Debbie Leach
"We need to find ways of making sustainability real and relevant to all Londoners, and not just for the capital - as one of the world's most high profile urban areas, London can showcase solutions."
Why is sustainable development important to you? "Because it's about our future - a future that needs to work for everyone, for generations to come. It starts with living life with our eyes open and seeing not just how the world affects us, but how each of us affects the world. Particularly in this fantastic, challenging, exciting city, tunnel vision has to go."
What does being a London Leader mean to you? "It means the opportunity to inspire people about the capital's network of waterways. Water gives us life and health, it gives us spectacle, beauty, fun, community focus and transport, and runs throughout London bringing wildlife, nature and moments of tranquillity to the busiest of city areas. This is real treasure and we need to value, benefit from and protect it.
Past experience Debbie has twenty years experience in the voluntary and charitable sector working mainly on educational, social and community inclusion initiatives.
