Definition of sustainable development and why it is important for London
The Brundtland Commission (1987) defined sustainable development as: '..development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.' LSx also uses our lead partner Forum for the Future's more positive definition of sustainable development: 'a dynamic process which enables all people to realise their potential and improve their quality of life in ways which simultaneously protect and enhance the Earth's life support systems.' We believe that a joined up approach is the only way to achieve a better quality of life for everybody.

The priority London needs to focus on to become the world's most sustainable city
Addressing environmental justice and behaviour change.
